Hano­ver — The cam­pai­gn for Free­dom of Expres­si­on Week 2021 was awar­ded the DPRG’s Inter­na­tio­nal Ger­man PR Pri­ze during the second week of the cam­pai­gn. DEZES Public Rela­ti­ons, as part of the Frank­furt Agen­cy Alli­an­ce, was inten­si­ve­ly invol­ved in the con­cep­ti­on and imple­men­ta­ti­on of the campaign.

The initia­ti­ve of the Ger­man Publis­hers & Book­sel­lers Asso­cia­ti­on and the Frank­furt Agen­cy Alli­an­ce won in the cate­go­ry of “Issu­es – Con­flicts – Cri­ses”, pre­vai­ling against initia­ti­ves from FUNKE Medi­en­grup­pe and ADAC Mit­tel­rhein. The award cere­mo­ny took place on May 5 as part of the Ger­man PR Day in Hano­ver. Repre­sen­ta­ti­ves of the Ger­man Publis­hers & Book­sel­lers Asso­cia­ti­on and the Frank­furt Agen­cy Alli­an­ce accep­ted the award.

“We are very plea­sed to recei­ve this award. After all, in order to make as many peop­le as pos­si­ble awa­re of the impor­t­ance of free­dom of the word, it is necessa­ry to reach them in the first place. The decisi­on of the top-cali­ber jury shows us that we have found the right chan­nels to the public. A big thank you goes to the Frank­furt Agen­cy Alli­an­ce, with which we were able to deve­lop the cam­pai­gn as a team and which made its suc­cess sto­ry pos­si­ble in the first place,” says Tho­mas Koch, press spo­kes­man for the Ger­man Publis­hers & Book­sel­lers Association.

“With the cam­pai­gn claim #Mor­eThan­MyO­pi­ni­on, we put the life­b­lood of demo­cra­cy into words and spar­ked a dis­cus­sion in socie­ty that we never thought pos­si­ble. Thanks to the jury for reco­gni­zing this,” said Clau­dio Mon­ta­ni­ni on behalf of the Frank­furt Agen­cy Alliance.

The PR Pri­ze is awar­ded annu­al­ly by the Ger­man Public Rela­ti­ons Asso­cia­ti­on DPRG in a total of 22 cate­go­ries. The jury con­sists of 36 repre­sen­ta­ti­ves of the com­mu­ni­ca­ti­ons indus­try. A total of over 200 pro­jects had been sub­mit­ted for the 22 categories.

Frankfurt/Main / Ber­lin – With its “Free­dom of Expres­si­on Week”, the Ger­man Publis­hers & Book­sel­lers Asso­cia­ti­on has brought the lively cul­tu­re of deba­te into the public spotlight.

Tog­e­ther with 46 part­ners, an initia­ti­ve was crea­ted that spent an ent­i­re week advo­ca­ting for the impor­t­ance of free­dom of expres­si­on in a free, demo­cra­tic socie­ty. From May 3 to 10, 2021, the alli­an­ce orga­ni­zed more than 50 events, actions and cam­pai­gns under the claim #Mor­eThan­MyO­pi­ni­on. 2,124 peop­le have signed the “Char­ter of Free­dom of Expres­si­on” to date (as of May 2022), which forms the sub­stan­ti­ve foun­da­ti­on of the initia­ti­ve. Its signa­to­ries inclu­de nume­rous well-known per­so­na­li­ties. The action week, its topics and prot­ago­nists, as well as the cam­pai­gn deve­lo­ped by the Frank­furt Agen­cy Alli­an­ce met with a resound­ing respon­se in the clas­sic and social media, among opi­ni­on lea­ders and the public at lar­ge. DEZES Public Rela­ti­ons was part of the Frank­furt Agen­cy Alli­an­ce from the begin­ning and par­ti­ci­pa­ted inten­si­ve­ly in the con­cept and implementation.

The action week, its the­mes and prot­ago­nists, as well as the cam­pai­gn deve­lo­ped by the Frank­furt Agen­cy Alli­an­ce, met with a resound­ing respon­se in the media and among the gene­ral public. Via edi­to­ri­al con­tri­bu­ti­ons in print, TV, radio, online and out-of-home, the cam­pai­gn gene­ra­ted more than 132 mil­li­on con­ta­cts wit­hin one week. The out-of-home cam­pai­gn alo­ne reached over 41 mil­li­on peop­le – des­pi­te lock­down restric­tions still being in place. This cor­re­sponds to a media value of 660,000 euros.

At the same time, the Free­dom of Expres­si­on Week repres­ents a new type of cam­pai­gn: the cli­ent was part of the team, the team its­elf was a plat­form of a total of ten agen­ci­es and free­lan­ce crea­ti­ve indi­vi­du­als covering all rele­vant disci­pli­nes of com­mu­ni­ca­ti­on and stra­te­gic con­sul­ting, from which the Frank­furt Agen­cy Alli­an­ce emer­ged as a joint venture.
