Frankfurt/Main / Berlin – With its “Freedom of Expression Week”, the German Publishers & Booksellers Association has brought the lively culture of debate into the public spotlight.
Together with 46 partners, an initiative was created that spent an entire week advocating for the importance of freedom of expression in a free, democratic society. From May 3 to 10, 2021, the alliance organized more than 50 events, actions and campaigns under the claim #MoreThanMyOpinion. 2,124 people have signed the “Charter of Freedom of Expression” to date (as of May 2022), which forms the substantive foundation of the initiative. Its signatories include numerous well-known personalities. The action week, its topics and protagonists, as well as the campaign developed by the Frankfurt Agency Alliance met with a resounding response in the classic and social media, among opinion leaders and the public at large. DEZES Public Relations was part of the Frankfurt Agency Alliance from the beginning and participated intensively in the concept and implementation.
The action week, its themes and protagonists, as well as the campaign developed by the Frankfurt Agency Alliance, met with a resounding response in the media and among the general public. Via editorial contributions in print, TV, radio, online and out-of-home, the campaign generated more than 132 million contacts within one week. The out-of-home campaign alone reached over 41 million people – despite lockdown restrictions still being in place. This corresponds to a media value of 660,000 euros.
At the same time, the Freedom of Expression Week represents a new type of campaign: the client was part of the team, the team itself was a platform of a total of ten agencies and freelance creative individuals covering all relevant disciplines of communication and strategic consulting, from which the Frankfurt Agency Alliance emerged as a joint venture.
